What do interior designers need ?

my best friend and i want to be an interior designers and we are both going away for college but to different directions
her birthday is coming soon and i want to get her some stuff she might need.

i thought since we will be far away from each other I’ll get a picture of us and have it framed

but i want to get her something else, so .. what do interior designers need for their 1st year in college ?
